Help for Cornerstone

Mary Hartmann Designs is having a fundraiser at the Mall of America during regular mall hours Feb. 12-14. The event will benefit Bloomington based Cornerstone, the domestic response and prevention center; said Mary Hartmann, founder of the jewelry and clothing maker that bears her name.

The benefit, called “Its All about Love,” will send a portion of proceeds taken in through Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, to Cornerstone’s clients.

“Due to the fact that Valentines Day is a reminder of romantic love in our lives, we wanted to do an event for residents at Cornerstone,” Hartmann said. “It is our goal and intension to remind those in need and that are hurting to find love within themselves, families and friends.”

In addition, Mary Hartmann Designs gathered 10 mothers and children to make homemade tie blankets for children at the shelter in Bloomington.

“We are donating blankets, books and CDs that are filled with love and kindness.” Hartmann said. “The focus will not be about Valentines Day but about Love.” Mary Hartmann Designs is also donating jewelry and accessories to victims of domestic violence.

• It was the day before our eleventh wedding anniversary. I had just finished doing a trade show. While waiting for Paul to pick me up, I remembered our wedding anniversary was the next day.
